Web Summit Dublin 2015
In a few days, I will be heading to Dublin – a city I have a deep affection for – to connect with friends, partner, clients and VIPs and I hope some incredible new connections I’ve yet to meet.
I’m heading to attend Web Summit which has grown to a very large conference for the tech, startup and entrepreneur space.
There are expected to be 12,000+ people live and over 3 days we’ll be meeting and .. well I’m honestly not sure..
We teach a few key distinctions .. one of which is Expect Nothing.. ( You can learn more about the distinctions in my upcoming book and at our live trainings).
The point is I’m going with as much as possible my expectations zeroed.
I am assuming I will come back to London afterwards and that the event will be held. Other than that I’m able to attend the event without a driven agenda or hard sales target I must hit..
Why do I mention it..well in the last few days I’ve had a large number of new contact requests.. mainly from people who are looking to push.. their new idea, web app or agenda.
It’s been refreshing when an old client .. who I hadn’t seen for a few years got in touch when he saw I was going and was excited to genuinely connect.
For most.. they hadn’t researched me, didn’t really know my passions and were asking me to come see them at their stands..
Well.. it’s what the event is for right?
Well yes and no..
I’m coming because I promised some of my clients and partners I would go this year, to support them and their initiatives and to authenticate what’s happening before we introduce some news ideas, opportunities and people to existing public ventures.
People have commented that I’m “A great guy to know..” , “Clearly in the know”, “Someone with great connections and access”.. which is very flattering.. then the next moment they are pitching.. and worse not even giving me a good pitch.
I’m sure I’m as guilty as the next person of this over the years, and it’s something that I can expect more of until people as a “whole” realise that it’s all about relationships.
It’s why we’ve founded some incredible initiatives, projects and ventures that we look forward to making more and more public and accessible over the coming years and decades.
I had hoped to take one of our mentees from www.ManifestingMillionaires.com who is an incredible young man and who has been working on the www.FreshForms.com project.. but he has had a personal challenge which he’s chosen I think wisely to prioritise.
The net result.. I have a spare ticket.. and one of you.. reading this.. can come with me.. to experience and navigate Web Summit..
